Selection Process details for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) Exam are given below…

Selection Process: Staff Selection Commission selection process is based on Written Examination. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the examination will be required to appear for a descriptive type qualifying paper for testing basic language skills. Written Examination consists of two paper, candidates who qualifed objective type paper (Paper I) will be shortlisted for the descriptive type (Paper-II) examination on the basis of their performance in Paper-I. Paper-II will only of qualifying nature.
Written Examination: The written exam will consist of (Paper-I) objective type paper and (Paper-II) descriptive type.

  • Paper-I will consist of questions on 'General Intelligence and Reasoning' will be non-verbal considering the functions attached to the post. Questions on Numerical Aptitude and General English will be simple, of a level that an average matriculate will be in a position to answer comfortably. Paper-II will be held only for such candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories.
  • Paper-II will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write short essay/letter in English and one language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of recategorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.
  • Documents verification will be conducted for those candidates who have qualified in written examination.

Note: The cut-offs in Paper-I and qualifying marks in Paper-II may be different for vacancies in each State/UT will be fixed at the discretion of the commission. SSC MTS Syllabus Details :

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits Group C posts of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) in Different States and Union Territories. The following are the Syllabus details to apply for the SSC MTS Vacancies.

Syllabus :

Paper-I: Questions on 'General Intelligence and Reasoning' will be non-verbal considering the functions attached to the post. Questions on Numerical Aptitude and General English will be simple, of a level that an average matriculate will be in a position to answer comfortably. Questions on General Awareness will be also of similar standard.

  • General Intelligence : It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, nonverbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate's abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
  • English Language : Candidates' understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability would be tested.
  • Numerical Aptitude : This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
  • General Awareness : Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate's general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

NOTE : For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBE there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper.

Paper-II : The Paper will be set in English and Hindi and to the extent possible in other languages mentioned in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, to test basic language skills commensurate with the educational qualification prescribed for the post. Candidates will be required to write one short essay/letter in English and Hindi each. Candidates can opt to write the essay/letter in any Indian languag included in the 8th schedule of Constitution.

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)

Central Teacher Eligibility Test known as CTET is an entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for teachers from Class 1 to Class 8. It is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. The test is conducted in order fulfill the achieve Right to education goals. CTET was introduced by the Indian Government in order to improve standards in teaching. It was held for the first time in 2011. For teachers already working, they are supposed to clear the exam in two years time.

The exam is based on National Curriculum Framework. All graduates, including B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc. are eligible to take the test. All B. Ed. graduates need to pass this exam to work as a teacher. A candidate has to score over 60 percent to clear the eligibility test. The exam is divided into Paper 1 and Paper 2. SSC LDC (10+2) Exam

Every year Staff Selection Commission conducts a Combined All India Open Examination for recruitment to the posts of Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Lower Division Clerk (LDC). The Examination comprises a Written Objective Type Examination followed by a Data Entry Skill Test / Typing Test. STEP 2 – SSB (Services Selection Board) TESTING

If you have successfully cleared Step 1, you will receive a Call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar and Mysore. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer in the Indian Air Force.

PABT*

* Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) is a unique test. It is aimed at assessing a candidate's aptitude to be trained as a pilot. PABT is being used as an independent selection device to induct potential officers into Flying Branch of Indian Air Force. PABT comprises three tests viz Instrument Battery Test (INSB), Sensory Motor Apparatus Test (SMA) and Control Velocity Test (CVT). Instrument Battery Test (INSB) is a paper pencil test and other two are machine tests. The Instruments Battery Test (INSB) comprises two parts. This test assesses assimilation of the briefing and the ability of an individual to read and interpret the dials of an instrument panel of an aircraft. The candidates who score the minimum laid down criteria are subjected to the machine test. The machine test includes Sensory Motor Apparatus Test (SMA) and Control Velocity Test (CVT). These tests measure the psychomotor co-ordination skill of the individual. These tests are conducted on a single day and administered only once in life time.

At the Conference held on the last day, all the Assessors i.e. the Psychologist, Ground Testing Officer and the Interviewing Officer, discuss your personality and decide on whether to recommend you or not. Those recommended by the AFSBs will be required to fill up certain documents at the Boards and subsequently move to the next step.

STEP 3 – CONDUCT OF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

If you are recommended by the Selection Board, you will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.

STEP 4 – PREPARING ALL INDIA MERIT LIST

An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches / sub branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments.

The papers, from which question are asked in CDS Entrance exams are English (100 Marks), General Knowledge (100 Marks) & Elementary Mathematics (100 Marks); total of 300 Marks for Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy & Naval Academy. For Officers' Training Academy, the questions from English (100 Marks) & General Knowledge (100 Marks); total of 200 Marks are asked. All the papers are of objective type.

The Educational Qualification for CDS should be as below

  • For Indian Military Academy/Officers' Training Academy: Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • For Naval Academy: Bachelor of Engineering.
  • For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering

Candidates successful in the written exam are then called for an interview by a Services Selection Board which evaluates a candidate's suitability for a career in the Indian Armed Forces. The SSB interview lasts for approximately a week, during which a candidate undergoes various physical and psychological tests to ascertain whether or not he is officer material. Apart from SSB interview, Air Force academy candidates are tested for Pilot Aptitude Battery test (PABT). After these tests, candidates undergone medical examination before finally admitted into the above mentioned academies, and after successful completion of training, they are inducted into the armed forces.

For NDA (National Defence Academy)

The papers, from which question are asked in NDA Entrance exams are Mathematics (300 Marks) & General Ability Test (600 Marks); total of 900 Marks are asked. All the papers are of objective type. General Ability Test has two part; Part A is English of 200 Marks & Part B is (General Knowledge - Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs) of 400 Marks.

The Educational Qualification for NDA should be as below

  • For Air Force/Navy: ) 12th Class (10+2) with Physics and Mathematics.
  • For Army: 12th Class (10+2).

Applicants to the NDA are selected via a written exam conducted by the UPSC, followed by extensive interviews covering general aptitude, psychological testing and team skills as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests. Incoming classes are accepted twice a year for semesters starting in July and January. About 320,000 applicants sit for each written exam. Typically, about 9,000 of these are invited to interview. Applicants to join the Air Force also go through a Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. About 300-350 cadets are accepted to the academy each semester. About 66 cadets are accepted for the Air Force, 39 for the Navy and 195 for the Army.
Cadets who are accepted and successfully complete the program are sent to their respective training academies for one year of training before granting of commission: army cadets go to IMA at Dehradun, Air Force cadets to AFA at Dundigal, Hyderabad, and naval cadets to INA, Ezhimala, Kerala. A cadet can only decline a commission in case of a serious permanent medical condition caused during the program

For AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test)

The AFCAT is an objective exam for the session of two hours. It is an objective type exam contains the following syllabus, such as:

  • A) Verbal Ability in English– Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms (meanings of English words), Antonyms (opposite meanings of English words) and Vocabulary evaluation.
  • B) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest
  • C) Reasoning and Military Aptitude– Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.


In the exam, the total number of questions is 100 and marks for each question is 3 where the negative marking for each wrong answer is 1.

The Educational Qualification for AFCAT should be as below

  • For Flying Branch: Graduation with minimum 60% marks or BE/B Tech degree with minimum 60% marks.
  • For technical Branch: Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics or Mechanical).
  • For Ground Duty Branches: Graduation or Post Graduation Degree.
